Trimethylamine N-Oxide generation process was influenced by the proportion and source of macronutrients in the diet

Trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) is a risk factor of various chronic diseases, which was produced by metabolism from precursors to trimethylamine (TMA) in gut and the oxidation TMA liver. The generation influenced diet, mainly due rich TMAO diet. However, it still unclear that effects different proportion source macronutrients dietary pattern on production process TMAO. Here, determined after single oral choline chloride intraperitoneal injection TMA, respectively, mice fed with carbohydrates, proteins fats sources. results suggested increased low non-meat protein high fat via enhancing decreased plant refined sugar reducing transformation diets accelerating development atherosclerosis did not increase TMAO, for atherosclerosis, indicated compositions rather than elevated level might be more key atherosclerosis.
